COVID-19 Update

COVID-19 has and still is a big topic for everyone in 2020, also for us in the Directions4Partners organizing committee. Planning conferences and working with event locations is quite a challenge this year, there are many different opinions and an ever changing situation.

The safety of everyone in our community is our primary focus and we continue to monitor the situation for any negative change and will react accordingly. We monitor WHO and their recommendations.

Why did we decide to move Directions EMEA 2020 to Prague?

As you may have seen, we have decided to move ahead with Directions EMEA 2020, but we decided to move it to Prague. We would like to share the reasoning behind that and why we are confident Directions EMEA 2020 will be another great Direction conference.

One of the key things people value at Directions is the networking – this being with Peers, with Microsoft employees, with ISVs and even competitors. This we could not deliver to the community in a virtual event.

Some weeks back we send out a survey asking if you would join us in Milan/Berlin or not at all, 33% responded Milan, 33% Berlin and 33% would not join this year – which indicate to us that more than 50% would prefer to join us in an in-person conference year year.

Furthermore, it looks like we are slowly and safely getting back to the new norm, business is back, countries are opening up and we, in the community, need to continue learning, sharing, networking and grow.

Czechia was one of the first countries in the EU to react and close downy when the pandemic started and have since had the been very good at testing and have a low infection/death number.

Prague is driving distance for many people – so many people don’t need to get on plane through an airport.

We have visited Hilton Prague and can only emphasize that they are on the fore-front of preparing for the new norm in the hotel and conferencing business. The Management and Catering team in Prague are leading the global Hilton efforts through their CleanStay program to ensure safety for the guests. Specific areas of focus include:

  • providing hand sanitizer and masks
  • serving “mono-portions” or "Grab & Go" to ensure the safe serving of food
  • ensuring social distancing in the hotel and conference area

We fully believe we can have a safe conference at the Hilton in Prague, the location is easy reachable for most people and we will do what ever we can to ensure a safe conference including:

  • Follow social distancing rules
  • Provide masks and sanitizer where needed
  • Provide on-site medical support
  • Work with Hilton to ensure a safe conference
